The system may not operate when:
A fault occurs in an ISG-related sensor or elsewhere in the Idle Stop and Go system, preventing normal automatic stop and restart operation.
If a malfunction is detected, the yellow AUTO STOP indicator (
) in the instrument cluster flashes for 5
seconds and then remains illuminated. The light on the ISG OFF button also comes on, indicating
that the system requires attention.
NOTE
If pressing the ISG OFF button again does not extinguish its light, or if ISG repeatedly fails to operate correctly, have your Kia Picanto inspected by a professional workshop as soon as possible.
Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner to investigate the cause.
An illuminated ISG OFF button light may go out after driving at approximately 80 km/h for up to two hours with the fan speed control knob set below the second position. Only maintain this speed where road conditions and posted limits permit. If the light remains on despite this procedure, arrange an inspection by a professional workshop as soon as possible. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
NOTE
For ISG operation to be available, the battery sensor needs approximately 4 hours to calibrate with the ignition switched off. After this period, start and stop the engine 2 or 3 times to complete the procedure before using the Kia Picanto Idle Stop and Go function.
WARNING
An engine stopped by Idle Stop can restart automatically without any action from the driver. A silent engine in this mode must not be treated as an engine that has been fully switched off.
Before leaving your Kia Picanto or carrying out any work in the engine compartment, switch the engine off completely. Turn the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button to LOCK (OFF), or remove the ignition key, as applicable to your vehicle. Do not rely on Idle Stop to keep the engine stopped while you are away from the driving position or working under the bonnet.
