Draining

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

If equipped.
Torque:
21 lb.ft (28 Nm)

Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.
-
Clean the drain plug and the area around drain plug.
-
Install the drain plug.
Torque:
142 lb.in (16 Nm)
Filling
-
-
Clean the fill plug and the area around fill plug. Remove the fill plug.
-
Fill the transfer case fluid.
-
Install the fill plug.
Torque:
142 lb.in (16 Nm)
Check

Make sure that the vehicle is standing on a level surface...

Dropped spark plugs should always be discarded.
Unfired
An unfired spark plug should appear very clean
with a pure nickel finish to the threads and ground strap. The center
electrode ceramic insulator surface is often a matte or dull finish and
pure white in color...

During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely
important. Any foreign material (including any material created while
cleaning gasket surfaces) that enters the oil passages, coolant passages
or the oil pan can cause engine failure...

A child safety lock is on the rear edge of each rear door. You must set the child
safety lock separately on each door.
