Impact sensing door unlock system
If an impact causes the air bags to deploy, all doors unlock automatically. This feature is linked to air bag deployment rather than to every impact the vehicle may experience.

The rear door child safety locks help prevent children from accidentally opening the doors from inside the vehicle. Use these locks whenever children travel in your Kia Picanto, as a normally unlocked door can still be opened with its interior handle unless the child safety lock is engaged.
Open the rear door to access the child safety lock.
Insert a small flat-bladed tool, such as a screwdriver, into the hole and turn the lock to the locked (
) position (1). With the child safety lock engaged, pulling the interior
handle will not open that rear door.
Close the rear door securely after setting the child safety lock.
To open the rear door while the child safety lock is engaged, use the exterior door handle (2), with the normal door lock unlocked.
Unlocking the vehicle’s doors does not release the child safety lock. The rear door remains inoperable from its interior handle until the child safety lock itself is returned to the unlocked position.
WARNING
Rear door locks
If a child opens a rear door while the vehicle is moving, they could fall out and suffer severe or fatal injuries. Engage the rear door child safety locks whenever children are in the vehicle to prevent them from opening those doors from inside.
