D: Rear wiper/washer control*. Select the required rear wiping position using the markings shown:
/ON — Intermittent wiping.
O/OFF — Rear wiper switched off.
E: Rear washer with brief wiping action. This operates the rear window washer together with a short wiping sequence.
* If equipped. Marked functions apply only when the corresponding equipment is fitted to the vehicle.
With the ignition switch turned ON, use the wiper stalk to select the appropriate setting for the amount of rain or moisture on the windscreen:
2/HI: Operates the front wipers at high speed.
1/LO: Operates the front wipers continuously at normal speed.
---/INT: Provides intermittent wiping, with a pause between each cycle. Use this setting in light rain or mist, and turn the interval control knob to adjust the time between wipes.
O/OFF: Switches the wipers off.
∨/1X: Move the stalk to this position and release it for one wiping cycle. Holding the stalk in this position keeps the wipers operating until you release it.
NOTE
If heavy snow or ice has accumulated on the windscreen, use the defroster for approximately 10 minutes, or until the accumulation has been cleared, before operating the wipers. Make sure the glass and blades are free to move. Operating the Kia Picanto wipers and washers before removing snow or ice can damage the wiping and washing systems.
|
With the stalk in O (OFF), pull it gently towards you to spray washer fluid onto the windscreen and activate one to three wiping cycles.
Use this combined washing and wiping function to clear dirt from the glass and restore a clear view through the windscreen.
Holding the stalk towards you keeps the washer spray and wipers operating. Release it when sufficient fluid has been applied.
If the washer does not spray, check the fluid level in the reservoir. When the level is low, replenish it with a suitable, non-abrasive windscreen washer fluid.
The washer reservoir filler neck is at the front of the engine compartment on the passenger’s side. Locate the correct filler before adding fluid.
CAUTION
Do not operate the washer with an empty reservoir. Running the pump without washer fluid can damage it.
WARNING
In freezing temperatures, warm the windscreen with the defroster before using the washer. Fluid sprayed onto cold glass can freeze and obscure your view of the road.
CAUTION
Do not run the wipers over a dry windscreen. Without moisture on the glass, wiping can damage the blades or windscreen surface.
Keep petrol, kerosene, paint thinner and other solvents away from the wiper blades. These substances can damage the blade material.
Do not force the wipers across the glass by hand. Moving them manually can damage the wiper arms and associated components.
Use a windscreen washer fluid with suitable freeze protection during winter or cold weather. This helps prevent freezing damage to the wiper and washer system.
The heated washer nozzle function helps thaw the washer nozzles in freezing weather, allowing fluid to pass through them when conditions permit.
With the ignition switch ON or the engine running, nozzle heating switches on and off automatically according to the following temperature and operating conditions:
Heating switches ON when the outside temperature falls below 5°C and switches OFF when it rises above 10°C.
Thawing may take longer with only the ignition switched ON than it does with the engine running.
With the ignition ON and the engine stopped, the system switches off automatically after 20 minutes of operation to help prevent battery discharge.
After the engine starts, thawing the washer fluid at the nozzles takes approximately five to 10 minutes.
If the engine is started while the outside temperature is within the heating operating range, nozzle heating remains ON beyond 20 minutes rather than switching off at the ignition-only time limit.
NOTE
The heated nozzles in your Kia Picanto may not function as intended under either of the following conditions:
The washer fluid inside the reservoir has frozen. Heating the nozzles does not resolve a frozen fluid supply in the reservoir.
The outside temperature sensor is malfunctioning, affecting the temperature information used to control nozzle heating.
The rear wiper and washer control is positioned at the end of the wiper stalk. Turn this switch to the required setting to operate the rear window wiping or washing function.
|
Rear window washer: Selects rear window washing.
Intermittent wipe: Operates the rear wiper with pauses between wiping cycles.
Off: Stops rear wiper operation.
Turn the stalk-end switch upwards through two positions to spray fluid onto the rear window and activate one to three rear wiping cycles.
The washer spray and rear wiper continue operating while the control is held in the washer position. Release it when the required washing action is complete.
High Beam Assist malfunction and limitationsYou can use the power door lock control or the remote control to lock and unlock your vehicle.
