High Beam Assist malfunction
|
A: Check High Beam Assist system. |

(
) on the
instrument cluster. Have the system inspected by an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Limitations of High Beam Assist
High Beam Assist depends on the camera’s view and the lighting conditions around the vehicle. It may not operate correctly in the following situations:
Another vehicle’s lights cannot be detected because they are damaged, obscured or otherwise hidden from the camera’s view.
Dust, snow or water covers another vehicle’s headlights and reduces their visibility.
A vehicle is travelling with its headlights off but its fog lights on, or with another lighting arrangement that makes detection difficult.
A light source has a shape similar to a vehicle lamp and may be interpreted incorrectly.
The headlights are damaged or have not been repaired correctly.
The headlight beams are incorrectly aimed.
The vehicle is travelling on a narrow, winding or rough road, or on an uphill or downhill section.
Only part of a vehicle ahead is visible at a junction or on a bend.
A traffic signal, reflective sign, flashing sign or mirror is present ahead.
Temporary reflectors or flashing lights are present ahead, such as those used around roadworks.
Road conditions are poor, including wet, icy or snow-covered surfaces.
A vehicle comes into view suddenly from around a bend.
The vehicle’s normal angle is altered by a flat tyre or because it is being towed.
Smoke, fog, snowfall or similar conditions prevent the camera from detecting another vehicle’s lights.
NOTE
For further information about front view camera limitations, refer to “Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) (Front Camera Only)” or “Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) (Sensor Fusion)”, according to the equipment fitted to your Kia Picanto.
WARNING
High Beam Assist may not switch off high beam in every situation where low beam is needed. It is a convenience function, and you remain responsible for observing traffic and road conditions and selecting appropriate lighting. Use the manual controls whenever necessary to avoid dazzling other road users.
The function may be unavailable for approximately 15 seconds after the vehicle is started or after the front view camera is initialised or restarted. Be prepared to control the headlights yourself during this period.
If High Beam Assist does not respond appropriately, switch between high and low beam manually to suit the conditions.
