Push the sunroof switch rearwards to slide the sunshade and glass open together.
Push the switch forwards to close the glass. Only the glass closes with this action; the sunshade must be closed separately by hand.
Move the switch forwards or rearwards to its first detent to adjust the glass manually. Movement continues while the switch is held and stops when it is released.
To interrupt sunroof movement at any point, operate the switch in any direction.
During opening, the glass stops at an intermediate position before reaching its maximum opening. To open it fully, push the switch rearwards once more and hold it. Beyond the intermediate stop, the glass moves only while the switch remains pressed.
NOTE
To reduce wind noise while driving your Kia Picanto, use the recommended intermediate opening position, referred to as the first detent position, rather than the maximum slide-open position. Set the desired opening while the vehicle is stationary.

If the sunroof detects an obstruction during automatic closing, the glass reverses direction and then stops at a predetermined position. This movement provides space for the obstruction to be cleared before another closing attempt.
A thin or soft object trapped between the moving glass and the sunroof frame may not produce sufficient resistance to activate automatic reversal. Always inspect the opening yourself rather than relying on the system to detect every obstruction.
WARNING
Before operating the sunroof, check that everyone’s head, hands, arms and other body parts are clear of the opening. Remove any objects from the glass’s path, as trapped body parts or items can cause injury or vehicle damage.
Never place any part of your body in the opening to test automatic reversal. Even if the glass reverses as intended, contact with the closing sunroof can still cause injury.
NOTE
Release the switch once the sunroof reaches its fully open, fully closed or fully tilted position. Continuing to hold the control after movement has ended can damage the sunroof motor.
Avoid continuously cycling the sunroof through sliding and tilting movements. Repeated operation without interruption may cause the motor or sunroof system to malfunction.
Regularly remove dust that accumulates on the sunroof rails to keep these areas clean.
Dust trapped between the sunroof and roof panel can cause noise. Open the sunroof under suitable conditions and regularly wipe away accumulated dust with a clean cloth.
Do not attempt to open the sunroof in below-freezing temperatures or while snow or ice covers it. The mechanism may not operate normally, and forcing the glass open can cause breakage or other damage.
Do not open the sunroof or drive with it open immediately after rainfall or washing the vehicle. Water remaining around the opening may enter and wet the interior.
Do not carry luggage protruding through the sunroof while driving. A sudden stop can cause the luggage to shift and damage the vehicle.
WARNING
Keep your head, arms, other body parts and objects inside the Kia Picanto while driving. Extending anything through the sunroof creates a risk of injury if the vehicle stops suddenly.
