The key code number is stamped on the tag attached to
the key set. Record this number so it is available if your keys are lost; Kia recommends contacting an authorised
Kia dealer or service partner in that situation. Remove the code tag from the keys and store it securely. Keep a
separate written record somewhere safe and readily accessible, but do not leave either the tag or the recorded code
inside the vehicle.

The key transmitter uses a 3-volt lithium battery, which normally provides several years of service. When the battery needs replacing, follow the procedure below and select the battery type specified for your Kia Picanto key. The folding key and smart key use different batteries.
Insert a slim tool into the slot in the transmitter housing and gently prise open the centre cover. Work carefully to separate the cover without damaging the housing.
For a folding key, use a slim tool to gently prise open the additional battery cover and expose the battery compartment.
Remove the old battery and replace it with a new battery of the correct type for your key:
Folding key: CR2032.
Smart key: CR2450.
Reassemble the battery compartment and transmitter housing in the reverse order of removal, ensuring that the covers are correctly seated.
If the transmitter itself requires replacement, Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for the appropriate replacement part.
WARNING
THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A BUTTON BATTERY. Handle both new and used batteries carefully and keep them securely stored.
If swallowed, a lithium button battery can cause severe or fatal injuries within two hours. Treat any suspected ingestion as an emergency.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children, including while replacing the battery and before disposing of the used one.
If you suspect that a battery has been swallowed or inserted into any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention. Do not wait for symptoms to appear.
NOTE
The keyless entry transmitter is designed to provide years of reliable operation, but exposure to moisture or static electricity can cause it to malfunction. If you are uncertain about operating the transmitter or replacing its battery, Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for assistance.
An incorrect battery can prevent the transmitter or smart key from working properly. Check the specified battery reference before installation and use the correct type for your particular key.
Protect the transmitter or smart key from damage by avoiding drops, water exposure, heat and direct sunlight. Careful handling helps protect both the housing and the electronic components inside it.
CAUTION
Incorrect disposal of a used battery can harm the environment and human health. Handle the removed battery responsibly rather than leaving it where it could be lost or accessed by a child.
Dispose of the battery in accordance with the local laws and regulations that apply to battery collection and disposal.
