Kia Picanto: If you have a flat tyre (with tyre mobility kit): (if equipped) / Introduction. Components of the Tyre Mobility Kit (TMK)

Kia Picanto 2024-2026 Owner's Manual / What to do in an emergency / If you have a flat tyre (with tyre mobility kit): (if equipped) / Introduction. Components of the Tyre Mobility Kit (TMK)

Introduction

The Tyre Mobility Kit (TMK) helps keep your Kia Picanto mobile after a tyre puncture by temporarily sealing the tyre.

Kia Picanto Tyre Mobility Kit used to temporarily seal and inflate a punctured tyre

The kit combines a compressor and sealing compound to seal many punctures in passenger-car tyres caused by nails or similar objects, then reinflate the tyre.

Once you have confirmed that the tyre is sealed, drive cautiously to a vehicle or tyre dealer to have it replaced. The temporary repair allows you to travel up to 200 km (120 miles) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h (50 mph).

Some tyres cannot be sealed completely, particularly when the puncture is large or the sidewall is damaged.

Loss of air pressure can affect tyre performance, so the tyre must be treated as a temporary repair while you make your way to a dealer.

Avoid sudden steering inputs and other abrupt manoeuvres, especially when the Kia Picanto is heavily loaded or towing a trailer.

The TMK is not intended as a permanent tyre repair and is designed to be used on one tyre only.

This procedure explains how to seal a puncture temporarily, step by step, using the kit.

Before you begin, read the section “Notes on the safe use of the TMK”.

WARNING

Do not use the TMK if the tyre has been severely damaged by driving while flat or with insufficient air pressure.

The TMK can seal punctures only when they are located in the tyre tread.
