CAUTION
Do not leave the interior lights on for an extended period while the engine is stopped. Limit their use when the vehicle is not running.
Prolonged operation can discharge the battery and leave insufficient power for subsequent vehicle use.
WARNING
Do not use the interior lights while driving in darkness. Cabin illumination can interfere with your view of the road and surrounding conditions, increasing the risk of an accident.
The Kia Picanto interior lights switch off automatically approximately 20 minutes after the ignition is turned off. If the vehicle is equipped with a theft-alarm system, the interior lights also switch off approximately 5 seconds after the alarm enters its armed stage.

(1): Press the individual lamps to switch the front map lamps on or off. Pressing a lamp again changes its on/off state.
(2): DOOR mode. This setting links map lamp and room lamp operation to door opening, remote unlocking and the ignition state:
The map lamp and room lamp illuminate when a door is opened. The lamps have an approximately 30-second courtesy-light period, subject to the door and ignition conditions described below.
Unlocking the doors with the transmitter or smart key switches on the map lamp and room lamp for approximately 30 seconds, provided no door is opened during that period.
If a door is opened with the ignition switch in ACC or LOCK/OFF, the map lamp and room lamp remain illuminated for approximately 20 minutes.
If a door is opened while the ignition switch is in ON, the map lamp and room lamp remain illuminated continuously while that door-open condition continues.
The map lamp and room lamp switch off immediately when the ignition is changed to ON or all doors are locked.
To cancel DOOR mode, press the DOOR button (2) again so that it returns to its released, unpressed position.
(3): Press this switch to turn the front map lamps on.
(4): Press this switch to turn the front map lamps off.
NOTE
DOOR mode and ROOM mode cannot be selected simultaneously. Select the mode appropriate to the lighting operation you require.

The luggage compartment lamp switches on when the tailgate is opened, providing illumination for loading, unloading and accessing items in the cargo area.
CAUTION
The luggage compartment lamp remains on while the tailgate is open. After using the luggage compartment, close the tailgate securely to prevent unnecessary electrical drain and battery discharge.

Opening the vanity mirror cover automatically switches on the mirror lamp. The light operates with the cover so that the mirror is illuminated when exposed for use.
CAUTION
Vanity mirror lamp (if equipped)
After use, close the vanity mirror cover securely and return the sunvisor to its original position. If the cover is not fully closed, the lamp can remain illuminated, potentially discharging the battery and damaging the sunvisor.
CAUTION
Protect the heating conductors bonded to the inside surface of the rear window. Never use sharp tools or abrasive window-cleaning products on this surface, as they can damage the conductors.
NOTE
For instructions on clearing frost or condensation from the front windscreen, refer to the Windscreen defrosting and defogging section. That section describes the controls and procedures for restoring forward visibility.
The rear window defroster heats the glass to clear frost, mist and thin layers of ice while the engine is running, helping restore a clear view behind your Kia Picanto.
To activate the system, press the rear window defroster button on the control panel.
The indicator in the button illuminates when the defroster is switched ON, confirming that the rear window heating function is operating.
If a heavy layer of snow has accumulated on the rear window, brush it off before switching on the defroster.
The rear window defroster switches off automatically after approximately 20 minutes or when the ignition is turned off. To stop it manually before then, press the rear window defroster button again.
Outside rear view mirror defroster: (if equipped)
If your vehicle has heated outside rearview mirrors, their defrosters operate together with the rear window defroster. Activating the rear window heating function therefore also activates the mirror heating.
