The headlights and/or tail lights remain illuminated for approximately five minutes after the engine is switched off and the ignition key is removed. If the driver’s door is opened and then closed during this period, the headlights switch off after 15 seconds, providing a brief period of lighting as you leave the vehicle.
To switch the headlights off sooner, press the transmitter or smart key lock button twice. You can also turn the lighting switch away from the headlight or AUTO position to switch the lights off manually.
CAUTION
If you leave through a door other than the driver’s door, the battery saver does not operate and the headlight escort function does not switch off automatically. The lights can remain on and discharge the battery. If you intend to exit through another door, switch off the lamps manually before leaving.
With the lighting switch in the ON or AUTO position and all doors and the tailgate closed and locked, pressing the unlock button on the transmitter or smart key switches on the headlights for approximately 15 seconds. This provides temporary lighting as you approach your Kia Picanto.
When the switch is set to AUTO, the welcome function operates only at night.
While the welcome lights are illuminated, pressing the unlock button again or pressing the lock button on the transmitter or smart key switches the headlights off immediately.
NOTE
Traffic change (for Europe)
Low-beam headlights normally use an asymmetric light distribution. When a vehicle travels in a country where traffic drives on the opposite side of the road, this beam pattern can dazzle oncoming drivers. ECE requirements address this through technical measures such as automatic beam adaptation, adhesive beam masks or downward adjustment. The headlights described here are designed to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers when used in countries with the opposite traffic direction, so no headlight conversion is required for that purpose.
Battery saver function. Daytime running light : (if equipped)
Lighting control. High beam operationUse the key blade to start your vehicle and unlock or lock the driver door from outside your vehicle. The integrated keyhead transmitter functions as a programmed ignition key that operates all the locks and starts your vehicle, as well as a remote control.
