Kia Picanto 2024-2026 Owner's Manual / Driving your vehicle / ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system : (if equipped) / Condition of ISG system operation. ISG system deactivation

Condition of ISG system operation

The ISG system operates only when the following requirements are satisfied:

  • The driver’s seat belt is securely fastened.

  • Both the driver’s door and the engine bonnet are closed.

  • Sufficient brake vacuum pressure is available.

  • The battery sensor is active, and the battery has enough charge to support ISG operation.

  • The outside temperature is neither too low nor too high for the system to operate.

  • The vehicle has been driven above the speed required for ISG operation before coming to a stop.

  • The climate control system meets the conditions required for an automatic engine stop.

  • The vehicle has warmed up sufficiently.

  • The vehicle is on a sufficiently gentle incline. This requirement applies only to vehicles with an automated manual transmission.

  • The steering wheel is turned less than 180 degrees when the vehicle comes to a stop. This requirement applies only to vehicles with an automated manual transmission.

NOTE

  • If the required operating conditions are not met, ISG is deactivated and the light on the ISG OFF button illuminates. The system cannot perform an automatic stop until its operating requirements are satisfied.

  • If the light remains illuminated continuously, check the operating conditions listed above to determine whether a requirement is preventing ISG from functioning.
