Kia Picanto: If you have a flat tyre (with tyre mobility kit): (if equipped) / Checking the tyre inflation pressure. Notes on the safe use of the Tyre Mobility Kit

Kia Picanto 2024-2026 Owner's Manual / What to do in an emergency / If you have a flat tyre (with tyre mobility kit): (if equipped) / Checking the tyre inflation pressure. Notes on the safe use of the Tyre Mobility Kit

Checking the tyre inflation pressure

  1. After driving approximately 7–10 km (4–6 miles), or about 10 minutes, stop in a suitable, safe location.

  2. Connect the compressor-side clip of the filling hose (3) directly to the compressor. Connect the other end of the filling hose (3) to the tyre valve.

  3. Connect the compressor to the vehicle’s power outlet using the cable and connectors.

  4. With the ignition switched on, adjust the tyre pressure to 200 kPa (29 psi) as follows:

    • To increase the pressure: Switch on the compressor and set it to position I. To check the current pressure, switch the compressor off briefly.

      WARNING

Do not run the compressor for more than 10 minutes. Longer operation may cause it to overheat and become damaged.

    • To reduce the pressure: Press the pressure release button (9) on the compressor.

      CAUTION

If the pressure does not remain at the required level, drive the vehicle again as described in “Distributing the sealant”, then repeat steps 1–4.

The Tyre Mobility Kit may not seal tyre damage larger than approximately 4 mm (0.16 in).

If the tyre cannot be made safe to drive on with the Tyre Mobility Kit, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

      WARNING

The tyre pressure must be at least 200 kPa (29 psi). If it is lower, do not continue driving. Call roadside assistance or arrange for the vehicle to be towed.

Notes on the safe use of the Tyre Mobility Kit

  • Park the Kia Picanto as far from moving traffic as possible before using the TMK. Place a warning triangle in a clearly visible position so approaching drivers can see where the vehicle has stopped.

  • Apply the parking brake every time, even if the vehicle is on fairly level ground, to help prevent it from moving while you work.

  • Use the TMK only to seal and inflate passenger-car tyres. Do not use it on motorcycle, bicycle or other types of tyres.

  • Do not remove foreign objects, such as nails or screws, that have punctured the tyre.

  • Before using the TMK, read the safety precautions printed on the sealant bottle.

  • If the vehicle is outdoors, leave the engine running while operating the compressor. Otherwise, using the compressor may eventually discharge the vehicle battery.

  • Do not leave the TMK unattended while it is operating.

  • Do not run the compressor for more than 10 minutes at a time, as it may overheat.

  • Do not use the TMK when the ambient temperature is below −30°C (−22°F).

  • For your safety, do not use the Tyre Mobility Kit if the tyre or wheel is damaged.
