Ford Explorer: Rear End Sheet Metal Repairs / Removal and Installation - Side Impact Reinforcement - Police

Removal

All vehicles

1. Remove the rear seats.
   Refer to: Second Row Seat - Police (501-10B Second Row Seats, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Remove the rear door opening scuff plates.
   

1. Remove the loadspace floor trim.
   

Rear Reinforcement

1. Remove the bolts and the reinforcement.
   

Seat Reinforcement

1. Remove the bolts and the reinforcement.
   

Seat Reinforcement Bracket

1. On Both Sides:
   Remove the nuts and the bracket.
   

Installation

Seat Reinforcement Bracket

1. On Both Sides:
   Install the bracket and the nuts.
   Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

Seat Reinforcement

1. Install the seat reinforcement and the bolts.
   Torque:
      1:   46 lb.ft (62 Nm)
      2:   35 lb.ft (47 Nm)

Rear Reinforcement

1. Install the reinforcement and bolts.
   Torque: 46 lb.ft (62 Nm)

All vehicles

1. Install the loadspace floor trim.
   

1. Install the rear seats.
   Refer to: Second Row Seat - Police (501-10B Second Row Seats, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Install the rear door opening scuff plates.
