Ford Explorer: Rear Climate Control / Removal and Installation - Rear Heater Core Outlet Line
Removal
NOTE:
The rear heater core outline is installed from the factory
as a one-piece assembly. The replacement part is supplied as an
assembly, containing the rear heater core inlet line and the rear
evaporator inlet and outlet lines.

Remove the rear evaporator rear outlet and inlet line.
Refer to: Rear Evaporator Rear Outlet and Inlet Line (412-02 Rear Climate Control, Removal and Installation).

During the removal of components, cap, tape or otherwise
appropriately protect all openings to prevent the ingress of dirt or
other contamination. Remove protective materials prior to installation.

Preliminary Inspection
Visually inspect the housing, seals, drive pinion stem for obvious signs of mechanical damage.
If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is
found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next
step
If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and REFER to Symptom Chart: NVH...
