Transmission Jack

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.

  1. Disconnect the battery.
    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  1. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release (310-00A Fuel System - General Information - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
  1. Drain the fuel tank.
    Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining (310-00A Fuel System - General Information - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
  1. Remove the muffler and tailpipe.
    Refer to: Muffler and Tailpipe (309-00A Exhaust System - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the drive shaft.
    Refer to: Rear Driveshaft (205-01 Driveshaft, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the retainers and position the air deflector aside.
    • Remove the nuts.
      Torque: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
    • Remove the bolts.
      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
    • Remove the heat shield.
  1. Remove the bolt and detach the retainer clips. Position the wiring harness aside.
    Torque: 106 lb.in (12 Nm)
  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  1. Remove the quick release couplings and fresh air tube from the canister.
    Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00A Fuel System - General Information - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
  1. Remove the quick release couplings.
    Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00A Fuel System - General Information - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).
  1. Remove the bolts and the fuel tank.
    Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack
    Torque: 35 lb.ft (47 Nm)
    • Disconnect the electical connector and quick release coupling.
    • Detach the clip and postion the fuel outlet hose aside.
  1. Remove the push pin retainers and the fuel tank shield.
  1. Remove the fuel tank insulator.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Disconnect the quick release coupling and remove the fuel tank pressure sensor and tube.
      Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00A Fuel System - General Information - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), General Procedures).

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
