When the ISOFIX system is not being used, secure the Child Restraint System to a rear seat using the lap section of the vehicle’s lap/shoulder belt. Follow the restraint manufacturer’s belt-routing instructions so that the belt holds the child seat correctly in your Kia Picanto.
Installing a Child Restraint System with a lap/shoulder belt
To install a Child Restraint System on a rear seat, complete the following steps in conjunction with the instructions supplied with the restraint:
Position the Child Restraint System on the rear seat. Route the lap/shoulder belt around or through the restraint exactly as shown in the Child Restraint System manufacturer’s instructions, using the specified belt path.
Check the full length of the routed webbing to make sure that it lies flat and is not twisted.
|
Insert the lap/shoulder belt latch plate into the buckle and listen for a distinct click indicating that it has engaged. Position the buckle release button so that it remains easy to reach if the restraint needs to be released in an emergency.
|
Remove as much slack as possible from the belt. Press down on the Child Restraint System while feeding the shoulder section back into the retractor, allowing the belt to tighten around the restraint.
Push and pull the Child Restraint System to check that the seat belt holds it firmly in position. Complete this attachment check before securing your child in the restraint.
|
If the Child Restraint System manufacturer recommends using a top tether together with the lap/shoulder belt, connect and tighten the tether according to the manufacturer’s instructions and the top-tether installation guidance in this manual.
To remove the Child Restraint System, press the buckle release button to unfasten the belt. Carefully withdraw the lap/shoulder belt from the restraint’s belt path and allow the webbing to retract fully.
