When an approaching vehicle is detected, the warning light in the outside rear-view mirror flashes.
The vehicle detection warning operates when both of these conditions are met:
The Kia Picanto is travelling below 3 km/h (2 mph).
The vehicle approaching from behind is travelling above 6 km/h (4 mph).
Collision warning when exiting vehicle

A: Collision warning
If a vehicle is detected approaching from behind as a door is opened for someone to exit, Safe Exit Warning issues a collision alert.
The outside rear-view mirror warning light flashes, a message appears on the instrument cluster and an audible warning sounds.
WARNING
For your safety, change system settings only after parking the Kia Picanto in a safe location.
If another function displays a warning message or sounds an alert, the Safe Exit Warning message or audible warning may not be displayed or heard.
Noise around the vehicle may make the Safe Exit Warning sound difficult to hear.
Safe Exit Warning cannot operate in every situation or prevent every collision.
Depending on the vehicle and driving conditions, the warning may come late or may not be issued. Check the area around the vehicle before opening a door.
The driver and passengers are responsible for checking for hazards when leaving the vehicle. Look for approaching traffic before opening a door or stepping out.
NOTE
After the vehicle is switched off, Safe Exit Warning remains active for approximately three minutes. It switches off immediately if the doors are locked.
Instrument cluster images and colours may vary according to the cluster specification or selected theme.
