Open the Kia Picanto fuel filler door using the release lever inside the vehicle. The lever is located in the front floor area beside the driver’s seat; pull it upwards to release the filler door before opening it from outside.
NOTE
If ice around the fuel filler door prevents it from opening, gently tap or press the lid to break the ice and release it. Do not prise the lid open, as forcing it may cause damage. If necessary, apply an approved de-icing fluid around the edges, or move the vehicle somewhere warm and allow the ice to melt. Do not use radiator antifreeze as a de-icer.
If the fuel filler door still will not open, including when an electrical malfunction or another operating fault is suspected, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner for assistance.

Stop the engine before opening the fuel filler and beginning to refuel.
Pull the fuel filler door release lever (1) upwards to release the door.
From outside the vehicle, pull the fuel filler door outwards until it is fully open and the cap is accessible.
Turn the fuel tank cap (2) anticlockwise to unscrew and remove it from the filler opening.
Refuel as required, using fuel that meets the specifications for your Kia Picanto.
WARNING
Before refuelling, confirm the correct fuel type for your vehicle and check that you have selected the appropriate pump. Putting diesel into a petrol-powered vehicle, or petrol into a diesel-powered vehicle, can impair the fuel system and cause serious vehicle damage. Do not assume that a fuel is suitable simply because the nozzle can be inserted into the filler opening.
Refit the fuel tank cap and turn it clockwise until it clicks. The click indicates that the cap has been securely tightened.
Close the fuel filler door and press it gently into place. Check that it is securely closed before leaving the refuelling area.
