Before driving, adjust the interior rearview mirror so that the view through the rear window is centred in the mirror. Set it from your normal driving position to obtain a useful view of the road behind your Kia Picanto.
WARNING
Rear visibility
Do not place items on the rear seat or in the luggage area where they obstruct your view through the rear window. Keep this sightline clear so that the interior mirror can provide the intended rearward view.
WARNING
Never adjust the interior rearview mirror while the vehicle is moving. Diverting your attention to the adjustment can cause a loss of control and a collision resulting in death, serious injury or property damage.
WARNING
Do not modify the interior mirror or fit a wide replacement or add-on mirror. Altering the mirror arrangement can create an injury risk during a collision or air bag deployment.

(1): Day position. (2): Night position. (3): Day/night selection lever.
Adjust the mirror before starting your journey, with the day/night lever set to the day position (1). This establishes the normal rearward view before using the glare-reduction setting.
During night driving, pull the day/night lever (3) towards you into the night position (2) to reduce glare from the headlights of vehicles behind.
The night position reduces rearview clarity as well as glare. Allow for this difference when observing following traffic through the mirror.
Adjust both exterior mirror angles before driving. Check their positions from your normal seating position so they provide the rearward views you need.
Your Kia Picanto has left-hand and right-hand exterior rearview mirrors, with remote adjustment through the mirror control switch. The mirror housings can be folded back to help prevent damage during an automatic car wash or when clearance is restricted on a narrow street. Complete any folding or adjustment while the vehicle is stationary.
WARNING
Rearview mirrors
The exterior rearview mirror has a convex surface. Vehicles and other objects reflected in it are closer than they appear, so do not judge their distance solely from the apparent size of the reflection.
When preparing to change lanes, use the interior rearview mirror or direct observation to assess the actual distance of following vehicles. Take the exterior mirror’s distance distortion into account before manoeuvring.
CAUTION
Do not scrape ice from the mirror glass, as scraping can damage its surface. If ice restricts mirror movement, do not force the adjustment mechanism. Remove the ice using a de-icing spray or a sponge or soft cloth moistened with very warm water.
CAUTION
If the mirror mechanism is frozen, do not attempt to move it by force. Apply an approved spray de-icer, never radiator antifreeze, to free the mechanism, or move the vehicle to a warm location and allow the ice to melt before adjusting the mirror.
WARNING
Do not adjust or fold the exterior rearview mirrors while the vehicle is moving. Doing so can distract you from driving and cause a loss of control, potentially resulting in an accident involving death, serious injury or property damage.
Electric type: (if equipped)
|
The electric mirror control lets you adjust the left-hand and right-hand exterior rearview mirrors from inside your Kia Picanto. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position before adjusting either mirror.
Press the R or L selector button (1) to choose the right-hand or left-hand mirror. Then press the appropriate arrow-marked point (▲) on the adjustment control (2) to move the selected mirror upwards, downwards, left or right until the required view is obtained.
When the adjustment is complete, press the selected R or L button again to deselect the mirror and help prevent unintended movement.
CAUTION
The mirror glass stops moving when it reaches the limit of its adjustment range, but the motor continues running while the control is held. Release the switch once the mirror reaches the desired position or its travel limit; holding it longer than necessary can damage the motor.
Do not push the exterior mirror glass by hand to change its angle. Manual adjustment of an electrically controlled mirror can damage its internal components.
Press directly on the intended arrow-marked area (▲) of the adjustment control (2). Pressing elsewhere can move the mirror in an unintended direction or cause incorrect operation.
Electric Type: (if equipped)
|
Press the mirror folding button to fold the exterior rearview mirrors inwards.
Press the button again to unfold the mirrors and return them to their normal operating position.
CAUTION
The electric folding function remains available when the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is in the OFF position. To avoid unnecessary battery discharge, limit mirror operation while the engine is not running.
CAUTION
Do not fold an electrically operated mirror by hand. Forcing the housing instead of using the folding button can damage the motor and cause the mechanism to fail.
Manual type
|
To fold a manually operated exterior mirror, hold the mirror housing and move it towards the rear of the vehicle. Apply force to the housing rather than the mirror glass.
