A: Check Forward Safety system |
If Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is not functioning correctly, the instrument cluster displays a warning message
together with the Forward Safety warning light (
) and the Master warning light (
). Have your Kia Picanto
inspected to identify the cause. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist disabled
|
A: Forward Safety system disabled. Camera obscured. |
|
A: Forward Safety system disabled. Radar blocked. |
Snow, rain or other material covering the windscreen in front of the camera, the front radar cover or the sensor can reduce detection performance. When these areas are obstructed, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may become temporarily limited or unavailable because it cannot detect the road ahead properly.
In this situation, a warning message appears in the instrument cluster along with the Forward Safety warning light
(
) and the Master warning
light (
). Read the message to
identify whether the camera or radar is affected.
Normal operation should resume once the snow, rain or other obstructing material has been removed and the sensors have a clear view. Keep these detection areas clean so that the Kia Picanto system can operate as intended.
If Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist still does not work correctly after the obstruction has been cleared, have the system inspected. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner rather than assuming that cleaning alone has resolved the issue.
WARNING
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate correctly even when no warning message or warning light appears in the instrument cluster. The absence of an alert does not guarantee that collision assistance is available.
After the vehicle is switched ON, the system may not function correctly in an area with nothing to detect, such as open terrain. Detection may also be impaired if foreign material covers a sensor, even before a warning is displayed.
Restarting your Kia Picanto does not necessarily restore Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. If an obstruction or malfunction remains, the system may continue to operate incorrectly after the engine has been started again.
Limitations of Forward Collision-Avoidance AssistWARNING: Airbags can kill or injure a child in a child restraint. Never place a rear-facing child restraint in front of an active airbag. If you must use a forward-facing child restraint in the front seat, move the seat upon which the child restraint is installed all the way back.
