A: Check forward safety system |
If Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is not operating correctly, a warning message appears in the instrument cluster
together with the Forward Safety warning light (
) and the Master warning light
(
). Have your Kia Picanto inspected to
determine the cause. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

A: Forward safety system disabled. Camera obscured |
Snow, rain or other material covering the windscreen in front of the camera can obstruct its view and reduce detection performance. Poor weather, including fog and heavy rain, can have a similar effect. In these conditions, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may become temporarily limited or unavailable.
When this happens, the instrument cluster displays a warning message along with the Forward Safety warning light
(
) and the Master warning light
(
). A warning caused by an obstructed camera
does not, by itself, mean that Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist has developed a fault.
Normal operation should resume once the obstructing material is removed and the camera has a clear view. Keep the relevant area of the windscreen clean so that the Kia Picanto front view camera can detect the road ahead.
If Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist still does not work correctly after snow, rain or other obstructing material has been cleared, further inspection is necessary. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner to have the system checked.
WARNING
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate correctly even when no warning message or warning light appears in the instrument cluster. The absence of a warning does not guarantee that assistance is available.
The system may not operate correctly after the vehicle is switched ON in an area where it detects no objects, such as open terrain. Remain attentive to the road and surroundings rather than relying on detection alone.
Restarting the vehicle does not ensure normal operation if the sensors remain obstructed or faulty. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist retains its last setting and may still be unable to function correctly after the restart.
Limitations of Forward Collision-Avoidance AssistWARNING: Position the seatbelt height adjuster so that the seatbelt rests across the middle of your shoulder. Failure to adjust the seatbelt correctly could reduce its effectiveness and increase the risk of injury in a crash.
