Drive cautiously when taking your Kia Picanto off paved roads. Rocks, exposed tree roots and other obstacles can damage the vehicle, particularly where the surface is uneven or difficult to judge. Familiarise yourself with the terrain and the conditions along your intended route before proceeding.
Tyres
|
Check the tyre inflation pressures and adjust them to the specified values before highway driving. Underinflated tyres can overheat during use, potentially leading to tyre failure. Correct inflation is an essential part of preparing the vehicle for the journey.
Do not drive on worn or damaged tyres. Their condition can reduce available traction and increase the risk of tyre failure, compromising your ability to control the vehicle.
NOTE
Never exceed the maximum inflation pressure marked on the tyres. Use the vehicle’s specified tyre pressures when adjusting inflation, while observing this maximum limit.
WARNING
Both underinflation and overinflation can impair handling, cause a loss of vehicle control or lead to sudden tyre failure. The resulting accident could cause serious injury or death. Always check that the tyres are correctly inflated before driving your Kia Picanto. Refer to “Tyres and wheels” for the specified inflation pressures.
Driving with little or no remaining tyre tread is dangerous. Worn-out tyres can cause a loss of control, a collision, serious injury or death. Replace them as soon as possible and do not continue driving on tyres that are worn out. Check the tread before setting off, and consult “Tyres and wheels” for further guidance and the applicable tread limits.
Fuel, engine coolant and engine oil
High-speed travel can use more fuel than urban driving, so account for the increased consumption when preparing for your journey. Check the engine coolant and engine oil as well; both deserve attention before sustained highway travel.
Drive belt
A loose or damaged drive belt can cause the engine to overheat. Include its condition in your vehicle checks, and have any looseness or damage addressed before continuing with a long journey.
