Ford Explorer: Second Row Seats / Removal and Installation - Second Row Center Seat Backrest Cover

Removal

Remove the second row center seat.
Refer to: Second Row Center Seat (501-10B Second Row Seats, Removal and Installation).

Remove the bolt and position the second row center seatbelt anchor aside.
Torque:
30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

Remove the second row center seatbelt guide bezel.
-
Remove the cover.
-
Remove the screws.
-
Release the bezel guide pins.
-
Route the seatbelt through the bezel.
-
Remove the second row center seat head restraint guide sleeves.
Refer to: Second Row Seat Head Restraint Guide Sleeve (501-10B Second Row Seats, Removal and Installation).
-
Release the retainers and remove the manual fold release strap bezel.
-
Lift the second row center seat backrest cover.
-
Remove the child safety seat tether anchor bezel.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
-
Release the J-clip.
-
Unzip the backrest cover.
-
Lift the backrest cover.
-
Remove the hook-and-loop retainers and position the second row center seat backrest cover aside.
-
Remove the second row center seatbelt buckle.
Refer to: Second Row Center Seatbelt Buckle (501-20A Seatbelt Systems, Removal and Installation).
Base vehicle
-
Remove the second row center seat center valance.
-
Release the retainer.
-
Release the retainer.
-
Remove the second row center seat LH side shield.
-
Remove the screws.
-
Detach the retainers
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Push the second row center seat side shield forward.
-
Remove the second row center seat RH side shield.
-
Remove the screws.
-
Detach the retainers
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Push the second row center seat side shield forward.
Police vehicle
-
Remove the second row center seat LH side shield.
-
Remove the screw.
-
Detach the retainers.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Push the second row center seat side shield forward.
-
Remove the second row center seat RH side shield.
-
Remove the screw.
-
Detach the retainers.
Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
-
Lift the second row center seat side shield and pull outward.
-
Push the second row center seat side shield forward.
All vehicles
-
If equipped, remove the second row seat armrest.
Refer to: Second Row Seat Armrest (501-10B Second Row Seats, Removal and Installation).

Route the manual fold release handle through the second row center seat backrest cover and foam.
-
Route the second row center seatbelt anchor through the backrest cover.
-
Remove the second row center seat backrest cover and foam as an assembly.
-
NOTICE:
Use care when separating the seat backrest trim
cover from the hook-and-loop strips or the hook-and-loop strips may be
torn from the seat backrest foam.

backrest foam.
NOTE:
This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
Remove the second row center seat backrest cover.

Invert the cover.
-
Release the hook-and-loop strips.
-
Release the hook-and-arrows.
Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
