To fasten your seat belt:
Insert the metal tongue (1) of the two-point static lap belt into its locking buckle (2). An audible click confirms engagement. Check that the tongue is securely locked and that the belt webbing is flat and untwisted.
A two-point static belt requires manual length adjustment. After fastening it, pull the loose end of the webbing until the belt fits snugly around your hips, removing unnecessary slack.
Position the belt low across your hips (1), rather than across your waist. Wearing it too high can increase the likelihood of injury in an accident because the belt will not bear on the intended part of the body.
When using the rear centre lap belt in your Kia Picanto, select the buckle marked CENTER to ensure the correct connection.
To release the seat belt:
Press the release button (1) on the locking buckle to unfasten the lap belt and withdraw its tongue.
WARNING
The centre lap belt uses a different latching mechanism from the rear lap/shoulder belts. Always insert each tongue into its matching buckle. Correct pairing is essential for proper operation and for obtaining the protection the restraint system is designed to provide.
When the rear belts are not in use, place their buckles in the storage pocket between the rear seatback and cushion. This keeps the buckles tucked away until the seats are needed again.
