Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following conditions:

  • When the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to ON.

    • It remains illuminated for approximately three seconds during the initial check, then goes out.

  • When a malfunction is detected in the Electronic Stability Control system.

Have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

This indicator flashes:

While ESC is actively operating. Flashing during intervention is different from continuous illumination indicating a system fault.

Refer to “Electronic Stability Control (ESC)” for details about system operation and its indications.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) OFF Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following conditions:

  • When the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is switched to ON.

    • It illuminates for approximately three seconds before going out.

  • When you deactivate ESC by pressing the ESC OFF button. The light confirms that the system has been switched off.

See “Electronic Stability Control (ESC)” for instructions on using the ESC OFF function.

Auto stop indicator : (if equipped)

The auto stop indicator illuminates when the engine enters Idle Stop mode as part of the ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system.

When the engine restarts automatically, the indicator on the instrument cluster flashes for five seconds to show the change in operating state.

Refer to “ISG (Idle Stop and Go) system” for the conditions governing automatic stopping and restarting.

NOTE

During an automatic ISG restart, the ABS, ESC, ESC OFF, MDPS or parking brake warning lights may illuminate briefly for a few seconds.

This temporary illumination can result from the drop in battery voltage during restarting and does not, by itself, indicate a malfunction in those systems.

Immobiliser Indicator Light (Without Smart Key) : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • The vehicle correctly recognises the immobiliser transponder in the ignition key while the ignition switch is ON.

    • Once the key has been recognised, the engine can be started using the normal starting procedure.

    • The indicator goes out after the engine starts.

This indicator flashes:

  • When a malfunction occurs in the immobiliser system.

Have your Kia Picanto inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

Immobiliser Indicator Light (With Smart Key) : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates for up to 30 seconds:

  • When the vehicle correctly detects the smart key inside the passenger compartment with the ENGINE START/STOP button in ACC or ON.

    • The engine can be started once the key has been recognised.

    • The indicator switches off after the engine starts.

This indicator flashes for a few seconds:

  • When the smart key is not inside the vehicle.

    • The engine cannot be started under this condition because the required key is absent.

This indicator illuminates for two seconds, then goes out:

  • When the smart key is inside the vehicle but is not detected with the ENGINE START/STOP button in ON.

Have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

This indicator also flashes:

  • When the smart key battery is weak.

    • Normal starting may be unavailable, but you can start the engine by using the smart key itself to press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Refer to “ENGINE START/STOP button” for the detailed procedure.

  • When a malfunction is detected in the immobiliser system.

Have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

Turn Signal Indicator Light

This indicator flashes under the following condition:

  • The corresponding turn signal has been switched on, confirming the selected signalling direction.

The following behaviours may indicate a turn signal system fault. If any occurs, have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop; Kia recommends an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

  • The indicator remains steadily illuminated instead of flashing.

  • The indicator flashes more rapidly than normal.

  • The indicator does not illuminate when the turn signal is selected.

Low Beam Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • The low-beam headlights are switched on, confirming that this lighting setting is active.

High Beam Indicator Light

This indicator illuminates under the following conditions:

  • The headlights are switched on and high beam is selected.

  • The turn signal lever is pulled into the Flash-to-Pass position to flash the high beams.

High Beam Assist indicator light : (if equipped)

The indicator and associated lighting function operate as follows:

  • The indicator appears when high beam is on with the lighting switch in the AUTO position.

  • If the system detects an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle ahead, High Beam Assist automatically changes the headlights from high beam to low beam.

Refer to “High Beam Assist (HBA)” for operating instructions and the system’s detection limitations.

Light ON Indicator Light

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • The tail lights or headlights are switched on, providing confirmation that the exterior lighting is active.

Front Fog Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • The front fog lights are switched on.

Rear Fog Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • The rear fog lights are switched on.

Press Brake Indicator Light (for Automated Manual Transmission)

This indicator illuminates under the following conditions:

  • You attempt to change the transmission position without depressing the brake pedal.

  • You attempt to start the engine without depressing the brake pedal. The indicator prompts you to apply the required pedal input.

Parking Brake Engaged Indicator Light (for Automated Manual Transmission)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • If the engine is switched off without the parking brake lever being applied, the indicator illuminates for approximately five seconds before going out. It serves as a reminder to engage the parking brake.

Cruise Control Indicator Light : (if equipped)

This indicator illuminates under the following condition:

  • Cruise Control has been enabled. This indication identifies the system’s enabled state, separately from the set-speed indication described below.

See “Cruise Control (CC)” for instructions on enabling and operating the system.

The indicator colour identifies the following Lane Safety conditions:

  • Green: The operating conditions for Lane Keeping Assist are satisfied.

  • White: The operating conditions for Lane Keeping Assist are not satisfied.

  • Yellow: Lane Safety has been deselected, is disabled or has a detected malfunction.

Have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop where a malfunction is indicated. Kia recommends an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

The indicator flashes:

  • Green: Lane Keeping Assist is actively operating.

Refer to “Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)” for explanations of the operating states and system limitations.

Exhaust system (PPF) warning light (Petrol Engine) : (if equipped)

This warning appears when a malfunction is detected in the Petrol Particulate Filter (PPF) system.

After the light appears, it may go out following a drive under the conditions listed below. Carry out this procedure only where road conditions and applicable speed limits allow it safely:

  • Drive for more than 30 minutes at a speed of at least 80 km/h (50 mph).

  • All the specified conditions must be met together: a safe road environment, third gear or higher, and an engine speed between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm.

If the warning light flashes despite completing this procedure, accompanied by an LCD warning message, have the vehicle checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

NOTE

Petrol engine with PPF (if equipped)

Continuing to drive for an extended period with the PPF warning light flashing can damage the filter system and increase fuel consumption. A persistent flashing warning requires professional attention.

Exhaust system (PPF) warning light for Smartstream G1.0 GDi : (if equipped)

On the Kia Picanto Smartstream G1.0 GDi, this warning illuminates when soot accumulation in the PPF reaches a specified level.

The illuminated warning can clear when the following driving conditions and accelerator-release sequence are completed. Use this engine-specific procedure only on a suitable, uncongested road where the stated speeds are safe and permitted:

  • Vehicle speed is above 100 km/h (60 mph).

  • Engine speed is between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm.

  • The transmission is in third gear or higher.

    • Choose a road without congestion so the required conditions can be reached safely without disrupting other traffic.

    • Accelerate to the stated speed of 100 km/h (60 mph) and an engine speed of 2,500–4,000 rpm in third gear or higher. Release the accelerator pedal and wait for at least 10 seconds.

    • Repeat the acceleration and accelerator-release sequence until the PPF warning light goes out, provided conditions remain suitable.

If the light flashes despite following the procedure, an accompanying warning message appears on the LCD display. Have the PPF system inspected by a professional workshop; Kia recommends an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.

NOTE

Petrol engine with PPF (if equipped)

Prolonged driving with the PPF warning light flashing can damage the PPF system and worsen fuel economy. Do not disregard a flashing warning that persists after the specified procedure.
