Kia Picanto: What to do in an emergency / Emergency Commodity

Kia Picanto 2024-2026 Owner's Manual / What to do in an emergency / Emergency Commodity

The Kia Picanto may be supplied with emergency equipment to help you respond to unexpected situations on the road. Check what is available in your vehicle and familiarise yourself with its location and use.

Fire extinguisher

If a small fire occurs and you know how to use the extinguisher, follow these steps carefully:

  1. Pull out the pin at the top of the extinguisher. It prevents the handle from being pressed accidentally.

  2. Point the nozzle at the base of the fire.

  3. Stand approximately 2.5 m (8 ft) away and squeeze the handle to discharge the extinguisher. Releasing the handle stops the discharge.

  4. Sweep the nozzle from side to side across the base of the fire. Even after the flames appear to be out, watch the area closely because the fire may reignite.

First aid kit

The first aid kit contains items such as scissors, a bandage and adhesive tape to help provide initial care to an injured person.

Triangle reflector

In an emergency, place the triangle reflector on the road to warn approaching drivers. Use it, for example, when a problem forces you to stop the Kia Picanto at the roadside.

Tyre pressure gauge (if equipped)

Tyres naturally lose some air during everyday use, so they may need occasional inflation. This does not necessarily mean that a tyre is leaking; it can be a normal part of use. Always check tyre pressure when the tyres are cold, because pressure rises as the tyres warm up.

Use the gauge to check the tyre pressure as follows:

  1. Unscrew the inflation valve cap from the valve on the tyre rim.

  2. Press the gauge firmly against the tyre valve and hold it in place. Some air may escape as you begin; more can escape if the gauge is not pressed on securely.

  3. A firm, leak-free connection activates the gauge.

  4. Read the gauge to determine whether the tyre pressure is too low or too high.

  5. Adjust the pressure to the specified level. Refer to Tyres and wheels for details.

  6. Refit the inflation valve cap.
