Ford Explorer: Instrument Panel and Console / Removal and Installation - Floor Console
Removal
All vehicles except Police
NOTE:

Remove the front seats.
Refer to: Front Seat (501-10A Front Seats, Removal and Installation).

Release the clips and remove the RH floor console side trim panel.
-
Disconnect the RH floor console electrical connectors.
-
Release the clips and remove the LH floor console side trim panel.
-
Disconnect the LH floor console electrical connectors.
-
Remove the bolts, position the console rearward to
release the front clips and remove the front floor console
-
Remove the front bolts.
Torque:
28 lb.in (3.2 Nm)
-
Remove the rear bolts.
Torque:
48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)
Police vehicles
-
Remove the police rear console extension plate.
-
Remove the bolts.
Torque:
40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)
-
Remvoe the nuts.
Torque:
40 lb.in (4.5 Nm)
-
Remove the nuts and the front police floor console plate.
Torque:
93 lb.in (10.5 Nm)
Installation
-
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

When these locks are set, you cannot open the rear doors from the inside.

A child safety lock is on the rear edge of each rear door. You must set the child
safety lock separately on each door.
