Interior Trim Remover

Disconnect

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and connected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven to allow the PCM to relearn the adaptive strategy values.

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery to interrupt power to the vehicle electrical system, disconnect the battery ground cable(s). It is not necessary to disconnect the positive battery cable(s).

Non-Hybrid Vehicles - Battery negative cable

  1. Release the clips and remove the battery access cover.
  1. NOTICE: Make sure the positive battery terminal cover is in position while removing the negative battery cable clamp to prevent damage from a short to the positive terminal.

    NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the sensor when removing the terminal from the battery post. Do not pry on the terminals or component damage may occur.

    Loosen, but do not remove the nut and position the negative battery cable aside.
    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

Non-Hybrid Vehicles - Battery Positive cable

  1. If equipped.
    Remove the retainers and the RH side engine compartment cover.
  1. If equipped.
    • Remove the retainers.
    • Detach the wiper fluid hose coupling and position aside the wiper hose.
  1. Remove the retainers and the RH side cowl panel grille.
  1. Loosen, but do not remove the nut. Release the clips and position the positive battery cable aside.
    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

Connect

  1. To connect, reverse the disconnect procedure.

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery to interrupt power to the vehicle electrical system, disconnect the battery ground cable(s). It is not necessary to disconnect the positive battery cable(s).

NOTE: For PHEV, prior to disconnecting the battery to interrupt power to the vehicle electrical system, make sure that the vehicle is not plugged into the charge port.

Hybrid Vehicles - Battery Negative Cable

  1. Release the clips and remove the battery access cover.
  1. NOTICE: Make sure the positive battery terminal cover is in position while removing the negative battery cable clamp to prevent damage from a short to the positive terminal.

    NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the sensor when removing the terminal from the battery post. Do not pry on the terminals or component damage may occur.

    Loosen, but do not remove the nut and position the negative battery cable aside.
    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

Hybrid Vehicles - Battery Positive Cable

  1. If equipped.
    Remove the retainers and the RH side engine compartment cover.
  1. If equipped.
    • Remove the retainers.

  1. Remove the retainers and the RH side cowl panel grille.
  1. Loosen, but do not remove the nut. Release the clips and position the positive battery cable aside.
    Torque: 48 lb.in (5.4 Nm)

Hybrid Vehicles - Auxiliary Battery cables

  1. Remove the luggage compartment floor cover.
  1. Remove the luggage compartment spare tire cover.
  1. NOTE: Third row seats removed for clarity.

    NOTE: Pin-type retainers are located in the rear bin floor of the loadspace armrest trim panel.

    Release the clips and pin-type retainers and remove the loadspace armrest trim panel.
    Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
  1. NOTICE: Make sure the positive battery terminal cover is in position while removing the negative battery cable clamp to prevent damage from a short to the positive terminal.

    Remove the bolt and position the negative battery cable aside.
    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)
  1. Position the battery terminal cover aside. Remove the bolt and position the positive battery cable aside.
    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

Connect

  1. To connect, reverse the disconnect procedure.
