A: Speed Limit System disabled. Camera obscured |
Snow, rain or other material on the windscreen in front of the camera can obstruct its view, reduce detection
performance and temporarily limit or disable Intelligent Speed Limit Assist. If this occurs, a warning message
appears on the Kia Picanto’s instrument cluster along with the Master warning light (
) and the Intelligent Speed Limit Assist
warning light (
).
Clear the material from the windscreen. Once it has been removed and you begin driving again, the warning light should go out and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist should resume normal operation. Keep the camera area clear.
If the function still does not work correctly after the obstruction has been removed, have it checked by an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
WARNING
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist may not work correctly even when no warning message or indicator appears on the instrument cluster.
Restarting the Kia Picanto may not restore normal operation if a sensor remains obstructed or the fault persists. The system may continue to be affected by the existing obstruction or malfunction.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist may not recognise signs correctly or may respond unexpectedly in the following situations:
A road sign is dirty, obscured or difficult to distinguish.
Rain, snow, fog or other poor weather makes the sign hard to see.
Nearby objects or shadows partly cover the sign.
A road sign does not follow the standard format.
The sign’s wording or symbol differs from the standard design.
The sign is positioned between the main road and an exit, or between roads that split apart.
A sign is attached to another vehicle.
The road sign is far from the Kia Picanto.
The vehicle passes a sign that is illuminated.
The system mistakes numbers or symbols on a street sign or another sign for a speed limit.
A sign beside a nearby road is detected instead of a sign that applies to the road you are travelling on.
Several signs are installed close together.
Supplementary signs or other signs are positioned around a road sign.
A minimum speed limit sign is misidentified.
Lighting changes suddenly, such as when entering or leaving a tunnel or passing beneath a bridge.
The headlamps are off or too dim at night or inside a tunnel.
Sunlight, street lighting or the headlamps of oncoming vehicles reflect off a sign and make it difficult to read.
Strong backlighting comes from ahead in the direction of travel.
The Kia Picanto is travelling on a sharp bend or a road with a series of curves.
The vehicle crosses speed bumps or travels up, down or sideways on a steep incline.
The vehicle is shaking heavily.
The navigation or GPS information is inaccurate.
The driver does not follow the route suggested by the navigation system.
The vehicle is travelling on a newly built road.
The vehicle is travelling through a road construction area.
The navigation software is being updated while driving.
The navigation system is restarted while driving.
WARNING
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist is a driver support function. It may not show the correct speed limit or manage the vehicle’s speed as expected.
The driver is responsible for observing and following the applicable speed limit.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist may be unavailable for approximately 15 seconds after the Kia Picanto is started or while the front view camera is initializing.
