Take great care whenever you carry out maintenance or inspection work on your vehicle. Careful handling helps protect both you and the vehicle from injury or damage.
Servicing that is inadequate, incomplete or missed can lead to operating problems, vehicle damage, an accident or personal injury.
NOTE
The vehicle owner is responsible for arranging maintenance and keeping service records.
Have your Kia Picanto serviced by a professional workshop. Kia recommends using an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Keep documents showing that maintenance has been completed in line with the scheduled service charts on the following pages.
These records may be needed to demonstrate that the vehicle’s servicing and maintenance requirements have been met under the warranty conditions.
Full warranty details are provided in the Warranty & Maintenance book.
Repairs or adjustments needed because the vehicle was not maintained correctly or required maintenance was missed are not covered by the vehicle warranty.
Incorrect or incomplete servicing can lead to vehicle problems. This section covers only the maintenance checks and tasks that owners can carry out easily. If a procedure is beyond your experience or equipment, arrange professional service for your Kia Picanto.
NOTE
Maintenance carried out incorrectly by the owner during the warranty period may affect warranty coverage. For full details, consult the separate Warranty & Maintenance book supplied with the vehicle. If you are unsure how to perform a service or maintenance procedure, have the vehicle checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
WARNING
Maintenance work
Working on a vehicle can be dangerous, and some maintenance procedures may cause serious injury. If you do not have the necessary knowledge, experience, tools or equipment, have the work carried out by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Working beneath the bonnet while the engine is running is hazardous. Jewellery and loose clothing can become caught in moving parts and cause injury. If the engine must run while you work beneath the bonnet, remove all jewellery, especially rings, bracelets, watches and necklaces, as well as ties, scarves and other loose clothing. Keep clear of the engine and cooling fans.
CAUTION
Do not place heavy objects on the engine cover, if equipped, or fuel system components, and do not apply excessive force to them.
For inspection of the fuel system, including fuel lines and fuel injection components, contact a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Do not drive for an extended period with the engine cover removed, if your vehicle is equipped with one.
Keep away from open flames when inspecting the engine compartment.
Fuel, windscreen washer fluid and similar liquids are flammable and may cause a fire.
Before touching the battery, ignition cables or electrical wiring, disconnect the battery’s negative (−) terminal. Electrical current may otherwise cause an electric shock.
When removing an interior trim cover with a flat-blade (−) screwdriver, take care not to damage the cover.
Use care when replacing or cleaning bulbs to avoid burns or electric shock.
