For safe operation, proper vehicle maintenance and the best possible fuel economy, keep the tyres at the recommended inflation pressures. Stay within the Kia Picanto’s load limits and follow the specified weight distribution.
Check all tyre pressures, including the spare, when the tyres are cold. “Cold” means the vehicle has been parked for at least three hours or has been driven for less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
Maintaining the recommended pressures supports a comfortable ride and good handling while helping to limit tyre wear. For the specified pressures, refer to the Tyres and Wheels information for your vehicle.
The tyre sizes and recommended pressures are also shown on a label attached to the vehicle.

Warning
Underinflated tyres
Severe underinflation—70 kPa (10 psi) or more below the recommended pressure—can cause excessive heat build-up. This may lead to a blowout, tread separation or another tyre failure, resulting in loss of vehicle control and potentially serious injury or death. The risk is higher in hot weather and during long periods of high-speed driving.
Caution
Underinflation causes excessive tyre wear, poorer handling and reduced fuel economy. It can also deform the wheel. Keep the tyres at the specified pressures. If a tyre repeatedly needs air, have it and the inflation system checked by a qualified workshop. Kia recommends contacting an authorised Kia dealer or service partner.
Overinflation can make the ride harsh, increase wear at the centre of the tread and make the tyre more susceptible to damage from road hazards.
Caution
Warm tyres normally read 28–41 kPa (4–6 psi) higher than the recommended cold pressure. Do not release air from warm tyres to adjust the reading; they may then be underinflated when cold.
Refit the valve caps after checking the pressure. Without a cap, dirt or moisture can enter the valve core and cause air to leak. Replace any missing cap as soon as possible.
Warning
Tyre inflation
Both overinflation and underinflation can shorten tyre life, impair handling and lead to sudden tyre failure. A tyre failure may cause loss of vehicle control and result in injury.
Caution
Tyre pressure
Always observe these precautions when checking the Kia Picanto’s tyre pressures:
Check the tyres when cold: the vehicle must have been parked for at least three hours or driven no more than 1.6 km (1 mile) since starting.
Check the spare tyre whenever you check the other tyres.
Do not overload the vehicle. If it has a luggage rack, take care not to exceed its load limit.
Worn or aged tyres can cause accidents. Replace tyres with badly worn tread or visible damage.
