WARNING
Before installing a Child Restraint System in your Kia Picanto, always complete the following preparation:
Read the installation and operating instructions supplied by the Child Restraint System manufacturer, and follow them throughout the fitting process.
Failure to observe every applicable warning and instruction can increase the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH if an accident occurs. Correct installation is essential to the protection the restraint is designed to provide.
WARNING
If the headrest at the chosen seating position prevents the Child Restraint System from being installed correctly, readjust that headrest or remove it entirely as necessary. The headrest must not interfere with the proper positioning and installation of the child restraint.
After choosing a Child Restraint System suitable for your child, confirm that it fits the intended seating position in your Kia Picanto. A proper installation then involves three general steps: securing the restraint to the vehicle, checking its attachment and correctly restraining the child within it.
Secure the Child Restraint System correctly to the vehicle. Every child restraint must be attached using the installation method specified for that system and seating position. Depending on its design, this may involve the lap belt, the lap section of a lap/shoulder belt, ISOFIX lower anchorages, an ISOFIX top tether and/or a support leg. Use the required combination in accordance with the restraint manufacturer’s instructions.
Check that the Child Restraint System is firmly attached. Once installed, push and pull the restraint forward and from side to side to check that it is securely attached to the vehicle seat. A restraint fitted with a seat belt should be installed as firmly as possible, although some side-to-side movement may still occur. During installation, adjust the vehicle seat and seatback, where adjustment is available, up or down and forward or rearward as appropriate so that the restraint fits correctly and your child can sit comfortably within it.
Secure your child correctly within the Child Restraint System. Position the child and fasten the restraint exactly as directed by its manufacturer. Check that the child is properly strapped in before every journey; securely attaching the child seat to the vehicle does not replace the need to restrain the child correctly inside it.
CAUTION
A Child Restraint System can become very hot inside a closed vehicle. Before placing your child in the restraint, check the temperature of the seating surface and buckles. Hot surfaces or hardware can cause burns, even when the restraint appears ready for use.

ISOFIX anchorage and top-tether anchorage (ISOFIX anchorage system) for childrenWARNING: Do not place your arms on the airbag cover or through the steering wheel. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury.
WARNING: Keep the areas in front of the airbags free from obstruction. Do not affix anything to or over the airbag covers. Objects could become projectiles during airbag deployment or in a sudden stop. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury or death.
WARNING: Airbags can kill or injure a child in a child restraint. Never place a rear-facing child restraint in front of an active airbag. If you must use a forward-facing child restraint in the front seat, move the seat upon which the child restraint is installed all the way back.
