Ford Explorer: Parking Brake and Actuation / Removal and Installation - Parking Brake Actuator Motor

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: LH side shown, RH similar.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
   Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

1. Disconnect the parking brake actuator motor electrical connector.
   

1. NOTE: If there is evidence of brake fluid found in or around the parking brake actuator motor a new brake caliper and actuator motor assembly must be installed.

   Remove the 2 bolts and the parking brake actuator motor. Discard the bolts.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. Remove and discard the O-ring.
   

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
   

1. 
   Install and lubricate the O-ring with specified material.
